Clearfield County Photos

The map above displays all major and even some back roads throughout Clearfield County.  It also displays the parks, lakes, and key interest areas.

For the walker, jogger, and/or bicyclist in you, the Rails-to-Trails map is displayed above.  As stated in the legend, the green lines are active railroad beds.  For your safety DO NOT USE these railroad beds for any reason!  The red lines are the abandoned, not used, railroad lines which have mostly been converted to the Rails-to-Trails paths.

Thanks to the USGS and Terraserver for the use of the aerial photo of the town of Clearfield.  Take note of the West Branch of the Susquehanna, Rte 879, faint but noticeable Nichols and Market Street bridges in the photo.

On the left, a part of the lake and the dam at Curwensville Lake.  On the right, an aerial photo of the Curwensville Lake, courtesy of the USGS and Terraserver.  Curwensville Lake is a great place to visit for camping, BBQ'ing, swimming, boating (with no horsepower restrictions), fishing, a beach, volleyball, and more.

In between the town of Curwensville and the city of Du Bois, via the scenic route, is Bilgers Rocks.  This is a great place to do some rock climbing, repelling, as well as taking a nature walk, and do a little BBQ'ing.  Bilger's Rocks is located Northwest of Grampian.

This photo is of the "big city" Du Bois and a part of Sandy Township.  The city is located along a tri-county region connected with Elk, Jefferson, and Clearfield Counties.  This is a prime location for educational benefits as there is a Penn State Campus located here.  In addition, there are a great deal of businesses and shopping plazas, as well as a mall, to enjoy a great time both living and playing here.  This photo courtesy of the USGS and Terraserver.

The photograph above depicts the beachfront of Parker Dam State park along with the cabins that are available.  Parker Dam State Park offers a number of nature and hiking trails, in addition to some historical and informational plaques located throughout many of the trails.  Parker Dam, like many state parks, offers camping, fishing, boating, BBQ'ing, and, of course, a beach area for swimming.  Below is an aerial photograph of Parker Dam State Park courtesy of the USGS and Terraserver.
