Clearfield-County.Com 2011 Year Wrap Up

Welcome to a New Year Clearfield County! Jason and I have had a
grand time serving you this past year and we plan to continue
serving you throughout 2012. Today, we want to highlight what
Clearfield-County.Com has achieved throughout 2011.
Clearfield-County.Com started off the 2011 year with a fresh new
look along with a new way to bring news and articles to you with the
advent of the Feature Story. Along with the website, we were able
to tap in more effectively to the social media outlets (Facebook and
Twitter) and our mobile link.
As the year rolled on, we were the first to interview and write the
breaking news story of Curwensville Native and wild animal advocate
Scott Lope with his television show Wild Animal Repo. His
incredible efforts have since led to the launching of Animal
Warriors, Inc.
During the early parts of the summer, your Clearfield-County.Com
team began an endeavor to build a custom outdoor PA sound system
onto our truck as well as an all-local band music line up for the
151st Clearfield County Fair. Both Clearfield County
natives, Wyatt who was stationed at Joint Base
McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, NJ and Jason who currently lives in
Montgomery, AL were able to participate in the Clearfield Fireman’s
Parade. Jason recalls, “this was truly an awesome time to be able
to reconnect with my home, my roots. It was a blast tossing
Clearfield-County.Com t-shirts and wristbands while waving to
Clearfield County.”
Wyatt, our sound engineer, emcee, and driver had this to say about
his time during the parade. “It had been 17 years since I had the
opportunity to come home to the Clearfield Parade and County Fair.
To be a part of the excitement combined with the ability to
entertain everyone and promote our love for our home was both an
honor and awesome experience that I will cherish for years to come.”
Infamous Hurricane Irene struck the northeastern coast and, though
Clearfield County barely felt any affects, Wyatt happened to weather
the storm while stationed in south central NJ and was able to report
what was happening during the hurricane.
“This was an exciting moment in my Clearfield-County.Com career,”
Wyatt said recently. “My family thought I was foolish to remain
while I sent my expectant wife back to Clearfield to be safe.
However, I had a great deal of responsibility here, one of which was
to the students that I was in charge of in the contingency
dormitories at the 421st Combat Training Squadron. While
I oversaw and provided drinking water and MREs (Meals, Ready to Eat)
to over 300 personnel who could not leave due to air transportation
closures, the experience allowed me to be a ‘digital’ news reporter
for Clearfield County. It was a thrilling moment for me.”
In September, Jason and Wyatt were able to reflect the 10th
anniversary of 9/11 by sharing where they were on that tragic day.
With the use of Facebook, we were also able to read and share
stories of other’s experiences which made it a more solemn moment to
be able to share with our beloved home.
In early November, Wyatt received orders to move to the Defense
Media Activity at Fort Meade, MD. He and his wife have settled in
and are enjoying the new assignment. Coincidentally, he now works
alongside the Hometown News which Clearfield-County.Com uses on our
Armed Forces Appreciation Page.
Finally, we would like to highlight and share what has happened with
our new efforts and design. Clearfield-County.Com has been a far
