The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Hauser graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Hauser is the grandson of Andrea Hazlett of Patchin Highway, and son of Dana Fedor, both of Cherry Tree. He is a 2011 graduate of Harmony High School, Westover. December 27, 2011: Askey, Christopher S. of Curwensville: Army Reserve Pvt. Christopher S. Askey has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises. Gearhart has graduated from the B-2 Aerospace Maintenance Apprentice Course at Sheppard Air Force Base, Wichita Falls, Texas. The course is designed to train airmen in aircraft maintenance fundamentals and weapons systems familiarization, security instruction, technical order systems, maintenance management and documentation, aircraft and flightline safety. Training included use of hand tools, hardware, and equipment to perform aircraft ground handling, corrosion, and inspection procedures; instruction and familiarization with particular aircraft airframe, electrical, hydraulic, egress, environmental, fuel, flight and landing controls, engines and related systems and components. Fye graduated from the U.S. Army Warrant Officer Candidate School at Fort Rucker, Daleville, Ala., and was appointed to the rank of warrant officer one. The student completed an intense six-week course conducted in a very demanding, rigorous, high-stressed, and deadline-required environment. The candidate received training in leadership skills, Army customs, doctrine, tradition, and tactics, drill and ceremonies, professional ethics, physical fitness, time-stress-people management skills, decision making, delegation and personnel skills, and numerous other military academic subjects. Students gain experience in leadership to attain higher responsibility while maintaining professionalism and quality work performance and standards required of career warrant officers. Additionally, candidates develop and hone skills relevant to an Army at war, skills required to effectively operate and survive on today's ever-changing battlefield operations against global terrorism. Warrant officers continue to further their training through technical and tactical certification. As the officers gain progressive levels of expertise and leadership, they operate, maintain, administer and manage equipment, support activities or technical systems throughout their Army career. They are highly specialized technical and training experts in their career specialties whom provide valuable skills, guidance and expertise to commanders and organizations. Warrant officers serve in the Regular Army, National Guard or Reserve to fulfill their military service obligation. Fye is a rotary wing aviator. She is the daughter of Eric Ostrofsky of Casanova Road, and Stacy Ostrofsky of Chestnut St., both of Munson, Pa. June 1, 2011: Arnold, Andrew J of Grassflat: Air Force Airman 1st Class Andrew J. Arnold has graduated from the B-52 technical training course, based out of Sheppard Air Force Base, Wichita Falls, Texas. The B-52H aircraft is designed as a land based heavy bombardment aircraft for long range and sustains flight at high speed and altitude. It's capable of carrying a multitude of conventional and nuclear weaponry, with a main purpose of deterrence. Newly trained airmen prepare each B-52H aircraft for flight through ground handling and major inspection. He is the son of Alan W. and Patti A. Arnold of Cooper Ave., Grassflat, Pa. Arnold graduated in 2007 from West Branch Area Junior-Senior High School, Morrisdale, Pa. May 27, 2011: Niebauer, Jessica M. of Allport: Air Force Airman Jessica M. Niebauer has graduated from the Aerospace Maintenance Apprentice Course at Sheppard Air Force Base, Wichita Falls, Texas. The student learned C-130 aircraft maintenance fundamentals for repairing and servicing aircraft with turboprop engines. Training and instruction included troubleshooting, testing, inspecting and repairing of aircraft systems which are operational during preflight, thru-flight and post-flight. Maintenance management and documentation were also taught for assessing the aircraft readiness capability, including ground handling procedures. The graduates will proceed to Little Rock Air Force Base, Ark., to receive follow-on apprenticeship aerospace maintenance and crew chief training on C-130 aircraft. She is the daughter of Lisa L. Lobb of Hawk Run, Pa. Niebauer graduated in 2009 from West Branch Area High School, Allport, Pa. May 25, 2011: Pry, Joseph C. of Clearfield:

Army National Guard Pvt. Christopher A. English has graduated from the Infantryman One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. The training consists of Basic Infantry Training and Advanced Individual Training. During the nine weeks of basic combat training, the soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons employment, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid skills, and Army history, core values and traditions. Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experienced use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman. The Advanced Individual Training course is designed to train infantry soldiers to perform reconnaissance operations; employ, fire and recover anti-personnel and anti-tank mines; locate and neutralize land mines and operate target and sight equipment; operate and maintain communications equipment and radio networks; construct field firing aids for infantry weapons; and perform infantry combat exercises and dismounted battle drills, which includes survival procedures in a nuclear, biological or chemical contaminated area.
